Auctionimage border 2px soild #851922. Descriptionin 1928, james c. Wobensmith publihsed his seminal work magic patents. It was published in a limited edition of 100 copies and sold for $10 (over $100 in today's money! ).
Today it is a raer and collectible title. The mechanics of marvels extends the original 1928 patent list of jim wobensmith to 500 patents, and the book includes complete drawings and text descriptions of 100 patents. Patents included in the book are those for illusions such as horace goldin's lady shot from cannon, the great lafayette's feeding a human to a lion, howard thurston's spirit cabinet and vanish of multiple persons, fergus greenwood's million dollar mystery, edward barnett's live girl in fishbowl, and gale molovinsky's portable levitation of a girl.
Among small apparatus, you will find the break away fan and rising cards, c. F. Brehmer's magic card box, a w. H. Tucker trick deck that does far more than the electric deck, various money printers, joe karson's zombie, and william gewirtz's coin through dental dam. In a comment about patents the author has said, when i was doing research for my latest book, the mechanics of marvels, i was amazed at how many common and familiar tricks were patented. Grant's money maker, merv taylor's vanishing birdcage, brema's breakaway fan and card box, p&l vanishing wand and reel, d'lite, and the list goes on and on. This is an over-sized book of 480 pages, with the foreword by jim steinmeyer and the preface by chuck romano. Note only 250 copies were printed (224 signed and numbered copies + 26 letteerd copies).
